DREXEL (Jeremias). Scuola della patienza. In Roma, per Hermano Scheus, 1643. In-16, [8] f. (including engraved title), 872 p., contemporary ivory vellum, smooth spine, title in ink, label on tail (edges worn, browning). First edition in Italian. Engraved title and 2 copper-engraved plates. Jesuit and famous Bavarian preacher, J. Drexel (1581-1638) wrote a number of spiritual works that were translated throughout Europe, such as this treatise on patience, a popularization of a work by Father Lodovico Forli, another Jesuit. Provenance: handwritten ex-dono dated 1680, from Antoine Silvestre to the library of a Dominican convent (old red stamp of said establishment on the title and following leaf).
