Two works in one very large volume, in-4, contemporary saddle-skin, 4 ribbed spine, handwritten title, boards decorated in cold with a set of fleurons in the center and 4 caster frames, 2 of which with portraits in medallions (2 corners worn, etiq. at tail of spine, grades faded; qq. small snags in margins and minor inner fading; lac. and tear in margin of limin. f. of 2nd work). Solid compendium of Roman law, comprising 4 volumes, the first including the indexes, the Institutes and the Digest, the second including the 12 books of the Codex (preceded by a special title page). Preceded by a title-frontispiece engraved by Caspar Merian, and an engraved portrait of the dedicatee, Emperor Leopold. Numerous paper tabs formerly placed in the margins; passages formerly carefully underlined in red or green ink, careful annotations.
