[Sixteenth-century book]. [Liturgy, Salzburg]. LIBELLUS agendarum, circa sacramenta, benedictiones, & cæremonias, secundum antiquum usum Metropolitanæ Ecclesiæ Salisburgensis. Salisburgi, J. Bauman, 1557. In-8, [8]-240 f., stamped sow's skin on period wood, 3-nerved spine, manuscript title, boards decorated with a central allegorical figure bordered by a scroll, clasps (binding rubbed, 3 corners worn, worm holes on spine; soiling, finger marks, paper damage in margins fol.26, 108 and 226, last f. repaired in margin).
Rare liturgical work for the Metropolitan Church of Salzburg, partly in Latin and partly in German. First edition, of which two editions were produced in the same year. Printed in red and black, title illustrated with a large vignette of the coat of arms, including that of Salzburg, 17 figures in the text, some repeated, including 2 full-page, all wood-engraved.
Provenance: handwritten mention on upper flyleaf of a prize founded by a certain Count Joannis Philippi de Hoyos in 1726; series of handwritten initials on lower flyleaf dated 1575.
