A fine biography of General de Saint-Arnaud, who was born in Paris on August 20, 1798 and died in the Black Sea on September 29, 1854. He was a Major General, Minister of War and Marshal of France. He distinguished himself in the Army of Africa during the conquest of Algeria, where he spent over thirteen years. Appointed Minister of War in October 1851, he ensured the success of the coup d'état of December 2, 1851. Raised to the rank of Marshal in December 1852, he commanded the Army of the East during the Crimean War in 1854, and distinguished himself at the Battle of Alma on September 20.
