Charles-Alexandre de Calonne was a French politician, born in Douai on January 20, 1734 and died in Paris on October 30, 1802. Minister and Controller General of Finance under Louis XVI between 1783 and 1787, he found himself at the heart of the great stock market speculations under Louis XVI.
