Spine ribbed, decorated with gilded caissons, fleurons and title. (11)-619-(18) pages. New edition put in a better order and increased with all the knowledge relative to this science by M. L*** [Pierre Camille Lemoine] of this great classic among heraldic manuals, often republished for its simplicity of use and its precision. Illustrated with a frontispiece and 49 plates of coats-of-arms engraved by Duflos, including a fold-out plate (genealogical and heraldic tree). The copy contains a handwritten bookplate on the flyleaf, preceded by a handwritten note mentioning the provenance of the copy ("ce livre avait appartenu à mon père, etc.") written in Nevers by an artillery captain whose signature is difficult to read. Several signs of wear and tear: 3 split jaws, top cover blown off, bottom cover partly detached, two slight tears (on spine and second board), corners dulled. Paper lightly browned, trace of minor wetness at the very beginning and end of the book. Overall, a well-preserved copy.
