Saint Augustin. Works: The Confessions; The City of God; Phi - Lot 3
Saint Augustin. Works: The Confessions; The City of God; Philosophy, Catechesis, Polemic.
Untitled, published by Gallimard between 1998 and 2002.
The Confessions: This autobiographical work, undoubtedly one of Saint Augustine's most famous works, recounts his life, his conversion to Christianity and his quest for truth. Written in the form of a prayer to God, it combines philosophical and spiritual reflections. The City of God: This monumental text is a defense of Christianity in the face of pagan criticism after the sack of Rome in 410. In it, Saint Augustine sets out a vision of human history as a struggle between the "City of God" (believers who live according to God's will) and the "Earthly City" (those who live according to human passions). Philosophy, catechesis, polemic: This section includes various philosophical and theological writings by Saint Augustine, in which he addresses questions about the nature of God, creation, evil, and predestination. Also included are polemical texts against the heresies of his time, such as Manichaeism and Pelagianism.
