RAYNAL, Guillaume-thomas. Histoire philosophique et politiqu - Lot 30

RAYNAL, Guillaume-thomas. Histoire philosophique et politique des établissements et du commerce des Européens dans les deux Indes. Published in Neuchâtel and Geneva by Les Libraires Associés in 1783. In 10 volumes of In octavo / In-8 format. Fawn marbled basane. Smooth spines decorated with gilt fleurons. Gilt edges. Approx. 400 pages per volume. A major, highly anti-colonial work by historian and thinker Guillaume-Thomas Raynal (1713-1796). Although initially published anonymously, its publication condemned its author to exile; he took refuge in Switzerland, from where he supervised successive reissues. The set includes all nine volumes and the supplement volume, which contains, among other things, the judgment of the Court of Parliament condemning the work. All ten volumes are presented here in excellently crafted contemporary bindings in admirable condition. Very good condition; clean interiors and solid bindings.
