Anonymous. Le petit oeuvre d'amour et gaige d'amytie. - Lot 31

Anonymous. Le petit oeuvre d'amour et gaige d'amytie. Published in Lyon by Editions de l'Antilope in 1927. Limited edition, one of 20 copies on China paper. In-24 paperback. Approx. 40 pages. (unpaginated) Charming little book presented by Editions de l'Antilope with an unpublished preface by Edouard Herriot. Limited edition of 150 copies, this one of 20 on China paper, the second paper after 10 on Japan paper, this one justified by the publisher "pour Valery Larbaud". Paperback, fresh interior. A bibliophile curiosity: Edouard Herriot acquired the original of this text, attributed to Maurice Scève but without absolute certainty. Following this acquisition, a more widely distributed edition was produced by Editions de l'Antilope, chosen by Herriot: "we have reproduced this opuscule in its original form, scrupulously, page for page, line for line, in the same layout, with all its imperfections, and they are numerous!" A charming and curious little book.
