Rubbing, minor loss to upper headpieces, gilding a little faded on spine of volume 1, corners worn. Very rare spotting. Revised and enlarged second edition of this treatise on tuberculosis by Dr. Baumes (1756-1828). The work was awarded a prize by the Paris Society of Medicine in 1783 "on the question proposed in the following terms: Determining what are the signs that herald a disposition to pulmonary phthisis, and what are the means to prevent its invasion or halt its progress". Complete sum in 2 volumes, with a handwritten bookplate opposite the title page. Very fine period set, with clean interiors.
