XXIV-476 pages, 2 folding tables off-text, engraved title vignette, 1 headband in text. Rubbing, top headband frayed, 1 bit split at tail head, some loss at edges, corners bare. Uncommon first edition of this comprehensive review of the properties of water, both from a chemical and medical point of view. The work is enriched with 2 fold-out tables: p. 118 "Table de l'action plus ou moins puissante des réactifs que l'on a employé sur les Eaux ci-après" and p. 124 "Table méthodique de l'Eau". It is the work of physician Louis Charles Henri MACQUART (1745 - 1818), corresponding member of the Académie des belles-lettres, sciences et arts de La Rochelle for the city of Reims, author of mineralogical works and to whom a stone, macquarite, is dedicated. A good copy, inside well preserved.
