BERGERON, Louis-Eloi. Manuel du Tourneur, published in Paris by Bergeron in 1792 and 1796, two volumes in In-4 format, half brown basane, spine gilt. Smooth spine decorated with gilt false nerves. (4 f.)+432+(3 f.) and (3 f.)+450+XXII pages, as well as 30 and 42 copper-engraved folding plates respectively, including 8 in hand-colored enhancement in the first volume. Joints tired with splits, title-piece of the second volume missing and rough restoration to the spine, some very rare foxing or spotting. This first edition covers all aspects of the turner's profession: the point, lunette, en l'air, eccentric, oval, guilloche, quarré, portrait & other lathes, everything that Art has produced that is most ingenious and pleasing. Attributed to Louis Bergeron, it was probably written by the lawyer Louis Georges Isaac Salivet. "Ouvrage fort estimé" (Brunet I, 785).
