BOOS, Emmanuel de. L'Armorial d'Auvergne, Bourbonois et Fore - Lot 18
BOOS, Emmanuel de. L'Armorial d'Auvergne, Bourbonois et Forestz by Guillaume Revel, published in Nonette, Puy-de-Dôme, by Editions Créer in 1998. 655 pages, numerous reproductions in black in the first part, approximately 150 plates in color in the box constituting the second part.
This edition is a historical and archaeological work based on Guillaume Revel's "L'Armorial d'Auvergne Bourbonois et Forestz", an illuminated manuscript from the mid-15th century. This provides an encyclopedic, illustrated overview of the possessions of Duke Charles I of Bourbon (1401-1456), listing the identities and arms of those likely to hold possession or power over his lands.
It is divided into two parts: the first, "Etude et Commentaire" (Study and Commentary), is a bound work containing the manuscript with commentary and black reproductions; the second, "Atlas et Planches" (Atlas and Plates), is a box containing around 150 full-page color plates from the manuscript, as well as eight maps of the region and a family tree around Charles I of Bourbon, the manuscript's patron. Very interesting documentation, good condition overall.
