DESPREAUX, Jean-Etienne. Mes Passe-Temps: Chansons suivies de l'art de la danse, poëme en quatre chants, calqué sur l'art poétique de Boileau Despréaux, Paris, chez l'auteur, chez Defrelle et chez Petit, 1806. 2 volumes, In-8. Blond glazed calf, smooth spines decorated with gilded irons evocative of music, green title-pieces and red head-pieces. Double gilt roulette framing the boards, including a Greek one, gilt roulette at the edges, gilt edges. Binding signed by François Bozerian (1765-1826). XIV+(1 f.)+244 and VIII+251 pages, 47 pages of engraved music in the second volume.
One spine stained on the first box of volume 1, spines a little faded, a few corners slightly dulled, one restored, brown spots, tear not missing on the corner of the title page of the first volume. Rare first edition on vellum, illustrated on the frontispiece with a profile portrait engraved by Frière after a silhouette by Despréaux and two full-page engraved plates after Moreau le Jeune (1741-1814), all before the letter. It also includes two vignettes in the second volume. Ex-libris (label) of Baron de Saint-Didier (1778-1850). Very fine musicology books, in period bindings signed by Bozerian.
