Green half-chagrin. Spine ribbed. XV-303 pages, black reproduction of the sepulchral chamber discovered at Thebes placed in frontispiece. A facsimile reproduction of a papyrus. Edges rubbed, scattered foxing. First edition of the catalog of Joseph Passalacqua's private collection, assembled during archaeological trips to Egypt between 1822 and 1825. In 1823-1824, he discovered the well tomb of Mentouhotep in the western part of Thebes. He tried unsuccessfully to interest the Louvre in his collection. It was eventually sold to Prussia. Thanks to this sale, he was appointed director of the new Egyptian Museum in 1828 (Markus MESSLING). A copy in good condition of this important catalog.
