(8) ff. ; 432 pp. ; (24) ff. 8 figures in black in the text. Minor loss to lower and upper margins of title page (trimming). Rare fourth edition of this treatise on chemistry, originally published in 1610 under the title "Tyrocinium Chymicum", one of the first in the vernacular. This edition is enriched with charming woodcuts in the text, presenting chemical instruments and processes. Two bookplates of "P.D. Corru" on the front flyleaf (one pastedown, the other handwritten). Stamp of the Saint-Geneviève school and stamp of the S.J. de Chantilly library on title. Stamp of the library of the Jesuit Scholasticate of Jersey on the spine of the title page. A good, well-preserved copy.
