BOERHAAVE, Herman. Aphorismi de Cognoscendis et Curandis Mor - Lot 157

BOERHAAVE, Herman. Aphorismi de Cognoscendis et Curandis Morbis In Usum Doctrinae Domesticae Digesti. Bound in suite: Libellus de Materie Medica et Remediorum Formulis... Published in Paris by Guillaume Cavelier in 1728 and 1720. Two works in one volume, format In-12. Mahogany basane. Spine decorated with gilt fleurons. Red speckled edges. (6 f.)+267+(16 f.) and (6 f.)+186+(21 f.) pages. Text in Latin. Edges rubbed. Fine nicks along spine. Pages a little faded and a few annotations in the text. Very good condition of this volume compiling two titles by Hermann Boerhaave (1668-1738), the famous Dutch physician. The aphorisms are a tribute to Hippocrates. They cover a wide range of subjects (rabies, cancer, rheumatism, catalepsy...). The second title is a compilation of medicinal recipes. A pleasant copy.
