One volume, format In-8. Vellum. Smooth spine with handwritten title. Cold-stamped boards with framing, corner fleurons and central emblem. (9 f.)+722+(16 f.), 21 engraved plates, engraved title page and fold-out portrait of the author. In Latin. Stains and soiling on cover. The engraved title page lists the various patients individually illustrated on the plates, cured by Dutch author and physician Frédéric Dekkers (1644-1720). The individual plates depict the innovative treatments he pioneered, some of which involved suction cups, smoke injections or pipes for draining various bodily fluids. With bookplate of Dr. Maurice Villaret and handwritten bookplate dated 1728. A very fine copy of Dr. Frederik Dekkers' practical exercises, illustrated with numerous copper plates featuring mostly patients undergoing treatment.
