GRANIER, Camille. La Femme Criminelle, published in Paris by - Lot 310
GRANIER, Camille. La Femme Criminelle, published in Paris by Octave Doin (Bibliothèque biologique et sociologique de la Femme) in 1906, in a 12-page paperback binding, (3) pages, IX, 1 fold-out plate, 468 pp. spine split, pages detached. An interesting sociological study of female criminality, with numerous figures and a map showing female and male delinquency rates in France in 1901. There is a first section on general criminology, followed by a second section on "criminal specialties", including abortion, theft and poisoning. The "Bibliothèque biologique et sociologique de la Femme" collection, directed by Dr. Toulouse, aims to apply the human sciences "to the study of women, to the determination of their physical and moral characteristics, and of the best conditions for their activity in the family and society". Maloine bookshop label on the back cover. An interesting study in its context.
