LATOUR, Jean Louis François Dominique. Nosographie Synoptique, ou Traité Complet de Médecine présenté sous forme de Tableaux, published in Paris by Gabon in 1810, one volume, broadside, mahogany half-chagrin with corners, later binding. Later binding. 40 leaves including 16 double-page tables. Corners and top cover a little rubbed. Some light soiling throughout, otherwise good condition. This large work is a summa divisio classification of all diseases. In his introduction, Latour expresses this wish: "Medicine [...] lacks only the formation of its language in relation to its acquired knowledge, but it is necessary that this medical language be created according to the constant order of analogy, that it be suitable for the demonstration of facts, and that these facts be expressed by words which become the analytical table".
