MAYOR, Matthias. Nouveau Système de Déligation Chirurgicale, - Lot 411

MAYOR, Matthias. Nouveau Système de Déligation Chirurgicale, published in Paris by Abram Cherbulier and Germer Baillière in 1837, two volumes in In-8 format, half vellum, manuscript title on spine. Handwritten title on spine. XXV+XVIII+366 and 416 pages, 8 copper-engraved fold-out plates. Plates a little faded with scattered brown spots. A work conceived as a popular surgery, this unusual treatise covers first aid and the application of dressings. The author offers the reader a new practice that he has been able to experiment with, based on the use of simple, everyday ties (handkerchiefs, shirts, aprons) to replace traditional bandages, charpies and splints, or the treatment of fractures without rigid splints. Each volume is illustrated with four plates with several figures showing the application of dressings or bandages. Rare and interesting publication in very good condition.
