[THESES]. de Thèses Médicales circa 1840. Most published in Montpellier circa 1842 / 1843. One volume in In-4 format. Half mahogany morocco. Smooth spine decorated with gilt false nerves. 600 pages approx. Some theses are foxed, edges rubbed and corners dull. Some theses are preceded by a handwritten letter from the author, on different paper. This work, entitled "Thèses d'Ami" ("Friend's theses"), was probably compiled by a former student of the Montpellier Faculty of Medicine, who wished to keep a souvenir of his former classmates. It brings together various medical theses from the mid-19th century, including the following titles: "Des Amputations Partielles de la Main dans les articulations carpo-métacarpiennes, et description d'un instrument nouveau pour perforer la membrane du tympan" ("Partial amputations of the hand in the carpo-metacarpal joints, and description of a new instrument for perforating the tympanic membrane"), "De quelques maladies de la glande prostate" ("On some diseases of the prostate gland") and "Essai sur les accidents qui suivent les grandes opérations" ("Essay on accidents following major operations").
