LA FAYE, George de. Principles of Surgery. - Lot 258
LA FAYE, George de. Principles of Surgery.
Published in Paris by Cavelier in 1773.
In-8, mahogany calf, ribbed spine decorated with gilt irons, red edges.
XII, 537 pp. pages.
Headcap damaged, two corners frayed, small epidermis on spine.
Sixth edition of this major treatise on surgery, enriched with an amusing contemporary note.
This copy includes a handwritten note on the flyleaf dated June 1776. The owner of the work, a certain Pierre Bernard, "begs those who find it to let me touch it, I will satisfy their pains; gatos on St Tibéaut's day; wine on St Matin's day, and blood sausage on St Villain's day."
A good copy with a curious note.
