Paris. This work devoted to the soon-to-be City of Light features 58 full-page steel engravings, depicting the capital's most characteristic monuments, some of which no longer exist: the former Chatelet, the Concorde, the Grenelle Fountain, the Sorbonne, the Hôtel de Cluny...
First illustrated edition, with new notes and an appendix by J.-L. Belin. Adjusted for changes since the original edition of 1825-1827, it offers the reader the chance to contemplate what the latter was longing to know. With engraved bookplate on the first flyleaf of each volume.
A very fine set in its homogeneous period binding.
