DULAURE, Jacques-Antoine. Physical, civil and moral history - Lot 91
DULAURE, Jacques-Antoine. Physical, civil and moral history of Paris. Paris, Furne et Cie, 1837. 8 volumes in 8 volumes, small In-8. Eggplant half-basanes, smooth spines decorated with faux nerfs in gilt garlands. 464, 468, 519, 495, 499, 420, 384 and 423 pages, 58 illustrated plates. Spines slightly sunned, headbands faded, spotting unevenly distributed, but plates generally preserved. Atlas missing (rarely present). Paris, its monuments, its history, its secrets: this work devoted to what was soon to become the City of Light is enriched by 58 full-page steel engravings depicting the capital's most characteristic monuments, some of which no longer exist: the Sainte Chapelle, the Palais de Justice, the Tour du Temple, the Assemblée Nationale and the Hôtel de Ville. This first illustrated edition is enhanced by new notes and an appendix by J.-L. Belin. It reflects all the changes made since the original 1825-1827 edition. A very fine set in its homogeneous period binding.
