Brown half-basane with corners, smooth spine decorated with gilt scrolls and fleurons, yellow edges. 2 ff.n.ch., VII, 164 pages, 2 ff.n.ch. Binding a little rubbed, some foxing in the text. First edition of this set of eighteen fictitious letters, each dealing with one or more flowers. These descriptions take the form of blazons, alternating prose and rhymed verse, all in a style that is intended to be lofty. At the end of our copy, on 3 pages and 2 lines, Alexandre Dumas' poem "Le mancenillier" has been copied in brown ink. On the last page, a press clipping presenting the poem "L'américaine" by Victorine Germillan, dated November 10, 1832. Handwritten ex-dono in brown ink on title page: Envoyé le 18 mars 1830 par ... à son ami Jules, reçue le 20 dudit". Opposite red wax stamp with the initials "J.V.". In good condition.
