Published in s.l.n.é. [Paris, chez Langlois ?], s.d. [after 1674]. In-8 oblong paperback, title vignette with Colbert's coat of arms. 44 laminated vignettes (98 x 65 mm.) on 11 pages. Mottling affecting some of the vignettes, slight yellowing. Suite of 44 vignettes dedicated by Sébastien Leclerc (1637-1714), the king's ordinary engraver, to his pupil Jean Jules Armand Colbert, son of the famous minister. According to Jombert's monograph, this set, featuring figures from various walks of life in a variety of poses, was intended for the study of drawing. There are several vignettes showing figures before and after shading, landscape studies and atmospheric perspective. A good study album.
