First edition of this important 19th-century hygiene treatise. Michel Lévy, physician-general of the French army, distinguished himself in particular during the Crimean campaign, where he implemented hygiene measures to counter a cholera epidemic. This comprehensive treatise was a great success, being reprinted six times. Handwritten bookplate on false title. A good copy of this major work.
