First edition of this collection by Belgian symbolist poet Georges Rodenbach (1855-1898). It contains 6 parts, one of which, here restored before the last poem, had appeared in 1888 under the title "Du silence"; the other five appear for the first time. The work consists of long poems divided into several sections, with the exception of the last poem, consisting of an eight-note and two quatrains, entitled "Epilogue". The whole work evokes nostalgia for the poet's native province of Bruges.
Handwritten bookplate of French poet Charles Guérin (1873-1907) on the front cover.
A pleasant copy in a binding by René Wiener (1855-1939).
Provenance: Charles Guérin by descent.
