John May (active 1692-1715), England, London. Mechanical movement, domed white enameled dial (hair, small chips), Roman numerals for the hours, Arabic numerals for the minutes, ribbon hour markers, fleur-de-lys hands, circular balance cock, openworked with floral and foliate decorations and centered with a plant rosette, verge escapement, chain and spindle. Diameter: 4.05 cm. Work of the 18th century. Other mechanisms and watches are preserved, notably at the Metropolitan Museum in New York and the Petit Palais in Paris. (Used condition)
