[EMPIRE - NAPOLEON]. Journal de l'Empire. 209 issues. - Lot 143
[EMPIRE - NAPOLEON]. Journal de l'Empire. 209 issues.
Paris, Journal des Débats, 1813.
Large in-4, half-cornered vellum, speckled orange boards.
Approx. 200 pages.
Binding faded, spine entirely missing, boards rubbed. Edges dusty, some foxing. Non-continuous suite.
A fine collection of over 200 issues of this journal of opinion covering the year 1913, from February to November.
A periodical opposed to Napoleon I, the emperor changed its title to "Journal de l'Empire" in 1805; the journal reverted to "Journal des Débats" during the First Restoration.
An excellent example of a press under imperial interference.
