[HORSTMANN COLLECTION]. Forms and figures. African art in th - Lot 51
[HORSTMANN COLLECTION]. Forms and figures. African art in the Horstmann collection. Milan, Skira, 2002. Large in-4, publisher's boards, in illustrated dust jacket. 271 pages. Numerous full-page and in-text color photographs. Dust jacket a little worn with fine white marks, leaves very slightly yellowed at the margins. Catalog of the collection assembled over three decades by Udo Horstmann and his wife, featuring some 120 sculptures (figures, masks, domestic utensils, weapons) from all over Africa. The presence of early works also refutes the received idea that African art is historically immobilized, and documents a genuine evolution in styles. In good condition.
