[ALASKA] KAPLAN, Susan A. and BARSNESS, Kristin J. Raven's Journey. The World of Alaska's Native People. Philadelphia, University of Pennsylvania Museum, 1986. In-4, paperback, illustrated cover. 208 pages. Numerous black photographs in text, 16 plates of color photographs. In English. Leaves slightly yellowed at margins. Catalog for the exhibition "Le Voyage du Corbeau, le monde des populations natives d'Alaska", organized at the Museum of the University of Pennsylvania in 1986. The authors investigate the cultures of the Alaskan populations (Inuit, Tsimshian, Haida, Tlingit, etc.), based on the central place occupied by the raven, both creator of the world and trickster. Readers can contemplate photographs of fascinating masks and ritual ornaments in which the obsessive figure of the dark bird recurs. In good condition.
