Extraordinary sculpture representing three hermaphroditic figures wearing beards and breasts, uniting heaven and earth in a single pair of hands and a single pair of legs. Heavy wood with a thick gray sacrificial crusty patina. Tellem, Mali. H. 44.5 cm. This famous sculpture, unique to our knowledge, was exhibited at the Musée du Quai Branly as part of the "Dogon" exhibition in 2011, Bibliography: reproduced in the "Dogon" exhibition catalog under number 25.
