Standing female statue leaning slightly forward, arms outstr - Lot 67
Standing female statue leaning slightly forward, arms outstretched. The conical head, extended by long rectangular ears, is decorated with zigzag scarification marks. The straight legs are marked by triangular volumes at the front. The pelvis is also scarified with geometric lines. Wood with old, characteristic brown patina. Mumuyé, Benue region, eastern Nigeria. H. 76 cm. Exhibition : this sculpture was part of the historic exhibition on Mumuyé art in 1968 organized by Jean-Michel Huguenin in his gallery on rue Guénégaud.
