Monolith depicting a male bust with long, pointed beard, arms at right angles above a prominent navel. The face is scarified with raised lines starting from the eyes. Extremely hard gray stone. Ekoi, Cross River region, Nigeria. H. 116 cm. Brought back from his explorations in the 1960s, this sculpture, with its classic Ejagham monolithic features, is more sensitively crafted than usual.
