Early 19th century French school. Portrait of Madame la vicomtesse de Labarthe née d'Angerville. Original canvas. Inscribed on the reverse "Made la Vtesse / de Labarthe / née d'Angerville". 64.5 x 54 cm. (Lifts) Our model could be Louise Marguerite Victoire d'Angerville (1776 - 1854), who married Henry Aimé Adolphe de Thomas, vicomte de Labarthe, in 1797. They had no children. Her younger sister Marie Anne d'Angerville (1779 - 1860) married her brother-in-law's older brother, in 1802 Marie Pierre Claude de Thomas, comte de Labarthe (1769 - 1828). They had two children.
