[BINDING]. Large Romantic period blank notebook with illuminated coats of arms. In-4 oblong in slipcase, full purple calf, ribbed spine embellished with gilt fillets and fleurons mimicking butterfly wings, boards decorated with large fleurons stamped in pavement of square sections encircled in the center of the board by a wide frame of gilt fillets and small fleurons with red hearts mosaicked in its corners and in the margins of the boards with a gilt fillet, triple gilt fillet to the chasses. 47 blank leaves, three of which are interspersed with glued and illuminated coats of arms (90 in all). Some rubbing, jaws tired, split at bottom of slipcase. In addition to illuminated coats of arms of the main towns of France, this blank notebook contains two pasted documents, a plate of uncolored coats of arms (intended to be illuminated and complete the notebook) and a watercolor drawing of the arms of Diane de Poitier, as well as an engraving of scenes of peasant rejoicing and a curious drawing of a Chouan, themselves flying. A very charming large-format notebook with a rich period binding.
