BERNIS, Cardinal de and PARIS-DU-VERNEY, M. Correspondance d - Lot 52
London and Paris, Cuchet, 1790. 2 volumes in 1 volume in-12, fawn half-basane, smooth spine decorated, marbled edges. 136 and 240 pages. Binding rubbed, jaws a little split, some light foxing. Collection, complete in two volumes, of the correspondence exchanged between Cardinal de Bernis, a diplomat of the XVIIIᵉ century, and Joseph Paris-Duverney, an influential financier, covering the years 1752 to 1769. The historical note, sheds light on France's political, diplomatic and economic stakes under Louis XV. Autograph notes signed Edouard Fournier (perhaps the historian, 1819-1880), stating that this is a very rare and not sufficiently well-known book and unpublished correspondence. A rare copy, in a contemporary binding.
