[ARCHITECTURE] VIGNOLE, Jacques Barozzio de. Nouveau Livre d - Lot 22
[ARCHITECTURE] VIGNOLE, Jacques Barozzio de. Nouveau Livre des cinq Ordres d'Architecture enriched with various cartels. Paris, Daumont rue de la Feronnerie, s.d. [1775]. In-folio, bottle-green half-basin, smooth spine decorated with gilt fillets in place of the nerves. 45 copper-engraved plates by Claude René Gabriel Poulleau (1749 - ?). Rubbing to binding, numerous foxing marks on the first six plates, then some foxing in the margins. Rare treatise on architecture, entirely engraved with 45 plates. In addition to technical lessons, the volume ends with views of several classical monuments, including the elevation of the Louvre and the Fountain of the Four Seasons on Rue de Grenelle. Among them are two of the most interesting plates: two rare views engraved by Le Canu, one of the elevation of Saint-Sulpice (6th) according to Servandoni's design, a copy of which is preserved in the Carnavalet museum, and a similar view of Saint-Eustache (1st) according to plans by Jean Hardouin Mansart de Jouy, both of which were never fully realized (only the first two levels for both churches, excluding the pediments). A fine piece of classical architecture and Parisian history.
