In-8, contemporary soft ivory vellum with laces, handwritten title on spine. 216 unchaptered ff. Marginal staining to last few leaves, rare foxing. Rare fifth edition of this important Tuscan and Castilian dictionary, highlighting the importance of Tuscany, the heart of the Italian Renaissance, and its close ties with Spain, which then possessed the Duchy of Milan and the Kingdom of Naples. On the flyleaf, handwritten bookplate and double ex-dono for this copy given in 1947 to the Spanish writer and philologist Martin de Riquer (1914-2013), then given again in 1953. A very good copy in contemporary vellum.
