[CERVANTES] KLEMM, Walther. Zu Don Qixote. 12 Holzschnitte. - Lot 86
[CERVANTES] KLEMM, Walther. Zu Don Qixote. 12 Holzschnitte. Rare and surprising suite of signed prints illustrating the adventures of Don Quixote, in its elegant original portfolio. [Weimar, Gustav Kiepenheuer, 1914]. 13 in-8 prints mounted in matted boards, in an ivory half-parchment flap folder with clasps, domed boards and gilt title to spine. Spine shaded, one clasp loop missing, two small tears to first passe-partout. A rare and beautiful set of 13 woodcuts printed in black on silk paper by Walther Klemm (1883-1957), painter and illustrator of the Viennese Secession. Each print is signed in graphite. A superb illustration of the adventures of the knight errant, little-known despite its undoubted quality. Precious and beautiful prints.
