[1907]. Large in-8, paperback. 159 pages, numerous in- and out-of-text color illustrations, decomposition of an engraving in 4 colors at the end of the volume. Some foxing. Deluxe edition with original compositions by François Thévenot, engraved in color by Thévenin and Mortier. It is part of the Collection des Dix, created by Romagnol, which produced works for bibliophiles, and whose limited publications were of high quality. At the end of the book is a breakdown of the four-color frontispiece engraving. Limited edition of 300 copies, this one of 200 numbered on Arches vellum (no. 275). Léon Hennique belongs to the naturalist school, strongly influenced by Zola and Maupassant. The tragic love story of Minnie Brandon, a young English alcoholic, fades under Thévenot's gentle brushwork. A fine copy.
