* Émile GALLÉ (1846-1904). - Lot 70
* Émile GALLÉ (1846-1904). Suite of two tin-glazed earthenware plates with painted polychrome enamel decoration of a Baroque opera duet: a Prima Donna singing with her score and a theorbist accompanying her on basso continuo. Enameled painted signature on the manganese-colored reverse, circa 1885, with below the probable signature of his collaborator Eugène Kremer, who worked in Meisenthal as well as in Raon-l'Etape, and who undoubtedly made this decoration in collaboration with Émile Gallé. Diameter: 26 cm. (Crack and chip) Bibliography: La Société des Amis de la Bibliothèque et du musée de Saint-Dié-des-Vosges, La Faïencerie de Raon-l'Etape, Éditions privées, 2010: a plate with the same model (different character) with photo of the signature on the reverse is reproduced on p. 78: "it is rare for a piece by E. Gallé to bear two signatures, his own and that of a collaborator: Eugène Kremer".
