* Émile GALLÉ (1846-1904). - Lot 76
* Émile GALLÉ (1846-1904). Pichet known as "au bon Roy Stanislas". Baluster pitcher on speaking heel in tin-glazed earthenware with painted polychrome enamel decoration inspired by Rouen, featuring Duke King Stanislas standing in profile in front of the gates of Place Stan designed by Jean Lamour with the inscription "Le bon roy Stanislaüs Leckzinski". A rare and beautiful decoration in the glorious memory of independent Lorraine in the post-1870 context and in the spirit of Charles Gallé his father, illustrating the future emblematic square of the city of Nancy (1751-1755) and of Stanislas, who did so much for this city and Lorraine. Enameled painted signature on reverse Saint-Clément Terre de Lorraine et Gallé Nancy, circa 1875. H. 27 cm. Bibliography: Musée de l'École de Nancy, La céramique de Gallé, Édition du Musée de l'École De Nancy, 1984: example of the Stanislas pitcher in the Bowes-Museum, Barnard Castle, reproduced in the article by Gabriella Gros-Galliner, p.142, note 273. Comparable example in the Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle, County Durham (X.4121), UK. https://thebowesmuseum.org.uk/a-building-of-love/ History: probably delivered (offered?) in 1872 to Joséphine Bowes, Comtesse de Montlabo (1825-1874) for the Bowes Museum. Bibliography: - Gros-Galliner, 1979, p. 54, reproduced on p. 52 - Charpentier, Husson, Ponton, 1984, reproduced p.53 and 64, note 273 p. 142.
