* Émile GALLÉ (1846-1904). - Lot 107
* Émile GALLÉ (1846-1904).
A rare trompe l'oeil piece, featuring an earthenware fishing basket with painted and polychrome enameled decoration of a lively seascape worthy of a harbor entrance with ruins by Claude Gellée dit le Lorrain.
Handwritten signature painted on the reverse, circa 1890.
D. 6 × 42 cm.
(A few enamel chips with restorations)
Interesting piece imagined by the artist as a fisherman's creel; the edges reproducing a canvas or net, stretched over branches, with a cord around the handle.
