[MANUSCRIT XVIIIe - BAYONNE] - PINSUN, D'AUVARD, LAVINET. Mémoire sur les ouvrages de la Barre de Bayonne. Interesting manuscript on the construction of the Barre and the dikes on the Adour, illustrated with a watercolor plate. Bayonne, 1777. In-4, half cream vellum with corners, handwritten title label on front cover. 99 handwritten pages on 58 leaves, including 30 bluish leaves. One fold-out watercolor plate mounted on tab. Yellowed vellum, boards rubbed. Some foxing and spotting. One plate missing. Manuscript signed Lavinet dealing with the construction of dikes on the Adour at Bayonne, containing a "Mémoire sur les ouvrages de la Barre de Bayonne" by Pinsun followed by "Observations sur le mémoire de M. de Pinsun" by D'Auvard concerning the same undertaking. Then there are various specifications and conditions governing the construction of the bar in 1728, those for the continuation of the work in 1741 and those for the construction of the Blancpignon spur in 1745. An in-fine fold-out plate, signed by the author, shows two pen-and-ink watercolor cross-sections of the constructions. An interesting work on the management and stages of urban planning projects in the 18th century.
