DALI (Salvador). Moses and Monotheism. - Lot 127
DALI (Salvador). Moses and Monotheism. Embossed silver-plated copper bas-relief (540x680mm), signed in the plate with black ink highlighting, mounted and nailed on a red velvet-covered wooden stand with a display device on the back. This work was designed to serve as the first cover of a book by Freud illustrated by the artist: "Moses and Monotheism" (Paris, Art & Valeurs, 1974). This is a mounted presentation copy. "Dali was directly inspired by the marble Moses that Michelangelo had executed for the second tomb of Julius II between 1512 and 1516, which is in Rome, in the Church of San Pietro in Vicoli."
