It contains eleven studies: fossil humans, Malays, Papuans, the inhabitants of Polynesia, Melanesia, and Tasmania, Maoris, Todas, Finns... The fold-out map of Polynesian migrations drawn by Hale in 1846 is revised here by Quatrefages (1810–1892). Handwritten bookplate on the half-title page dated 1884. A fine copy.
