A beautiful letter from Bernanos (1888–1948), marked by an almost excessive humility. He agreed to accept the invitation from Daniel Halévy, who hosted the writers of the time in his literary salon at the Hôtel des Breguet, 39 rue de l’Horloge. ..."The little book you hold in your hands (full of good intentions, alas!) isn’t worth much, but it’s certainly better than I am.
